Bar None (revisited)

The bar scene, and how ones perspective can change, astounds me. I have regularly been meeting some guys out on Wednesday nights. We have started to make it almost routine to meet there to shoot pool and hang out. I have also been apart of a group that is meeting at another place every third Thursday of the month. My intentions with these gatherings is to get to know those I am with on a more personal level, and have the opportunity to engage in interactions where certain environments may offer easier avenues to do so.

So what I have noticed so far, first, I enjoy the environment differently than I used too. I notice that sometimes I find myself analyzing the interactions around the place and reading into the intentions of the room. I mean, let’s try to get into why someone goes out to a bar or club. One, they are going out to have fun with the group they are with, or two to meet someone of the opposite sex. Most of the time it’s the latter.

Some say that there is a bond formed with those that can drink together. I don’t know if I completely agree, but there is something. Most of our conversations revolve around work, relationships, and whatever craziness is happening at the moment.

Once the scene used to be my playground, now I see it as a place to converse and laugh with those I aim to know, or care about.
