Bar None

There is no doubt that I was looking forward to this weekend. So far it consists of a Friday night out with my old fraternity buddy Mark, the Alpha-Omega Rave tonight, a Horizon joint service, and a soccer game.

Last night I decided on a whim to call my friend. I really didn't have plans and didn't want to sit around bored. I did know though that my attempt to step away from alcohol would be challenged. So a night out in Canton seemed exciting. Before hitting the bars I had a couple non-alcoholic St. Paulie Girls and an interesting conversation with both Mark and his roommate. They had some questions about religion. I was surprised and happy to share my beliefs. We soon after went out to the bars in Canton. It's weird... I used to love going out with my buddies and consume a stupid amount of alcohol while ringing up outrageous bar tabs. Now I seem to enjoy the company more than the atmosphere. At one point we ran into some girls from a sorority that our fraternity used to hang out with. I spoke to this one girl for a while. As we talked I noticed the cigarette in her hand and the glazed look from all the alcohol she had drank. I found her attractive on the outside but just found myself getting a little bored. I guess my idea of an interesting girl is much different now. We left the bar to meet up at another bar. I did have two beers which is disappointing but then decided I wanted to leave. At this point Mark was less than sober and I wasn't feeling the situation. We went to Kelly and Laurie's place and ordered a pizza. Any place called Mikie's Pizza can't be that good and wasn't. But at the moment I didn't care. My next time out I hope involves at least one of my Christian friends. It so makes a difference...

So the Rave is tonight. I am very excited about going. I am not a big fan of trance/techno music but I am a big fan of supporting a great cause. And you never know, you may see me out there making a fool of myself with glow sticks! This should also help promote Horizon as well. I have to give it up for TRONSTER! Dude you are doing awesome things and using interests that you are passionate about to help move others into the direction of God and creating great opportunities for awesome fellowship.

Tomorrow's joint service should be amazing. I am excited to see and meet the others from the Owings Mills church. I know God will be so powerful tomorrow and am eager to feel him. I am just as curious to see how many show up for the food court. As Jenn would say, "we will have to deal with the table-nazi." Sunday is also huge for me as I am being baptized. It is hard to explain how proud I am to be doing this. I just wish my family could be there.

After the BBQ I am heading off to the last game of the regular season for my indoor soccer league. Our team Crosseyed has had our best season. We have come along way and now look like we are playing soccer and not kick ball. Next season we may even be one of the best teams, who knows. I just know it's tons of fun and amazing exercise. I will just have to watch out for the crazed fans. Signs to megaphones, what will be next? The hire of a hispanic soccer announcer ready to scream, "GGGOOAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!"
