Spiritual Sixpack
Have you ever thought about the concept of being fit spiritually? I read a book about a month or so ago titled, “The Naked Christian.”
I recall some parts of the book that have kept me thinking. During one chapter the writer speaks about our nakedness and what that looks like with God. This concept is introduced in Genesis in the Garden. So the question I pose is, how do you feel stripped (metaphorically) in the presence of God?
It’s obvious that there is no hiding from God, but our guilt can make us more than self- conscious. So now I wonder what it means to be spiritually fit. What would such a concept entail?
Most people think about or attempt to physically get fit or in shape as the warmer months arrive. People tend to do this to feel more comfortable and confident. I don’t like to use this example because normally we strive for these goals with some sense of vanity. But, I do see that preparing and aiming for a goal to strengthen our faith, knowledge, and purpose is more than healthy. We do need to strive for that spiritual six-pack. I feel that a confident Christian is a strong one, and one that will be prepared and fit when sharing their story.
