One more

Recently I have decided to start a new goal on getting back into shape. With all the recent changes and move, I have told myself that I just don’t have the time. I think this is a load of crap. I can make the time.

So I have decided to start running around my community everyday. I’m hoping that it will help build up my endurance, and hopefully give me more energy. I also hope it will be a way for me to possibly meet some of my new neighbors.

I sit here in the basement typing away, as I look at my gym set collect dust. I think it’s about time I finish organizing things and getting back into working out. I have never been a fan of working out, but with the mixture of running and resistance training, I think I can get back into the shape.

So I know it’s going to be hard for me to stay on track and push myself to that one more rep or one more step; so I need accountability. If you see me out, every once in a while, ask me how I’m doing with it.

Project 101

Since the move from Owings Mills I have spent time doing and thinking of ways to improve my new place.

I now have a lawn mower and have to say that I truly enjoyed my first cutting. The mower has a bag, which rocks, but I can only imagine how different my perspective is going to be on the 101st mowing.

Slowly but surely I am getting things done and ideas are popping up into my head. What’s cool is that I couldn’t do this stuff at my old place. Now I have more flexibility.

Today after work I decided to get a couple projects out of the way. I have been gradually sanding the hand-rails on the front patio. After what I thought was a good enough sanding I laid some newspaper down. I emptied three cans of Rustoleum onto them. I’ll tell you, lay paper on the whole patio. Now, I have a nice imprint.

After that project I felt motivated to keep on going. I bought a 55 gallon fish tank a couple weekends ago and had yet to fill it. So a week ago I bought the sand, and tonight, here comes the water. I had everything prepared but forgot to test the hose. Oh fun, more to clean up. But now I have a tank that awaits its inhabitants.

I have gotten a few projects out of the way like these couple, but am clearly working with a work in progress. At this point I have much in the queue as ‘to do’ so I should be busy for some time. I am excited to see the finished project.

Relationships

More often than not during the times out with my friends, somewhere, somehow, the topic of relationships occurs. Sentences start to ring out, Guys need to be more like this. There isn’t enough of this happening. What do you look for in a mate?

This week, Horizon Towson is starting a sermon series on ‘Relationships’. As the series approaches I see more and more how relevant it is to our age group, and the community. Our church encompasses as a majority, singleness. We have many still in college, possibly in relationships, some not. Others are out and have been single and still searching. Influxes of couples have recently just made the commitment to marriage or are engaged. No community is fortunate enough to be absent from the struggles of divorce. As this series starts and ends I am eager to see how God works through the message; I know many will relate, including myself.
